Distinguish Yourself Before Employers. Know The Product.

Do you want to demonstrate to a potential employer why they should hire you, rather than another applicant? Well, pretend you got the job and now you need to know everything about the company’s products.

For example, let’s say that you are applying for a job at Dunkin’ Donuts. You’ve filled out the application, dressed well and are about to drop it off—but don’t go yet, because you’re not ready!

If you want to make an impression, go to Dunkin Donuts’ website and get to know their products. For instance, learn how many chocolate donuts they have (20) and what the differences are. Memorize the prices of the best selling coffees. Notice their motto on the website: “Dunkin Donuts. Making people happy since 1950.”

Next, write a brief cover letter using the research you did as a way to explain why you are the best choice for the position. Then go on to describe how your personality will bring a smile to each customer’s face.

The store manager will be impressed and I’ll bet the other people applying just filled out the application and left it there.

Be that stand-out applicant. Distinguish yourself. It’s not that hard.
