Can you think of anyone else besides Steve Jobs whose death continued to be the top news story nearly three weeks out? What a testament to his accomplishments.
Steve Jobs’ life resonates with me on both personal and professional levels.
My daughter is adopted so I follow his family story very carefully looking for insights that I may use at home. Like Jobs, I also dealt with serious illness and possible death— and thanks to my parents and an immediate surgical intervention I can talk about it 35 years later.
Professionally, I connect with his legacy as the founder and CEO of the startup www.careerfuel.net. Conceived two years ago when our society began to be crushed by lack of job opportunities, CareerFuel is attempting to give Americans what they need to get them where they want to be with personalized and original career-related information and inspiration.
My team and I are trying to solve a very big and real problem by connecting all the media pipes—something no one has done in any vertical. Imagine that Nancy, the recently laid off teacher, would get something useful and original every day. And Jim, the newly retired police officer, who is looking to start a business and needs a roadmap to creating a business plan, finding capital, etc. would get something unique to him and different from Nancy.
The CareerFuel team sees the need and has the vision to right this ship called America. We hope it is prescient that the world can’t stop talking about Jobs—the person and the need.
