Are you too good to lose?
One of CareerFuel’s team members is a recent college graduate who has a full time job and moonlights for us (with her boss’s blessing) on nights and weekends. She lives at home and is eager to break out on her own. In short order, she has managed to make herself indispensable to our team. Every day she amazes us with her initiative, creativity and organizational skills. “You have enough on your plate, let me take care of that,” is what I often hear from her and I can count on her to follow through and execute well. Jackie handles our social media and every day she creates several smart Tweets and Facebook postings to drive attention to our business—some days adding upwards of 30 new followers!
While it can be very difficult to know if a certain candidate will turn out to be a strong performer, a manager knows quickly when they hit the jackpot. Jackie is one of those employees who proves herself every day and reinforces her value to the company. As a small business owner this is particularly important, given limited resources.
How did you demonstrate to your employer today that you are the last person they can afford to lose? In today’s economic environment, it can be the difference between keeping your job and losing it.
